I found this quote the most interesting because it is funny in a way. The truth is that this statement is true. Everything is on Facebook now. We put our whole life story on either Facebook or Twitter, which can be argued as a good or bad thing. We can use Social Media to learn or get useful information, but others use social media to cheat or harass people and sometimes it can even be dangerous.

  2. Here is a link about a police officer that lost his job because he wrote something "bad" in his Facebook status.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/beds/bucks/herts/7265775.stm

People don’t realize that when you write something in your Facebook status that almost the whole world can see what you wrote. Facebook is a “dangerous” and “job costing” site that can affect somebody’s life enormously.

  3. it struck me as strange that china had so many people signed up for social media websites considering that they are very strict about media and censorship so that fact that they have a large amount of people connected to social media strikes me as odd.

  4. no its not a fad and i do believe that it is the biggest shift since the industrial revolution and thats because facebook has 200 million users and if it was a country it would be the third largest country in the world. Eric Bremner

  5. I believe that the social media has been the biggest industrial revolution. It has build our society and made lives easier to live. It also allows us to get information on the spot. There has been 1 million applications on the ipod touch downloaded in 9 months. This stands out because thats a lot of applications downloaded in such a sort ammount of time.

  8. Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears have more twitter followers than the entire populations of Sweden, Israel, Switzerland, Ireland, Norway and Panama. That’s ix different countries , Sweden has 9,354,462 people liven in Sweden, Israel has 7,653,600 people, Switzerland has 7,785,600 people, Ireland has 6,197,100 people, Norway has 4,951,100 people, while Panama has 3,405,813 people. Its crazy how two people can have so many people following them just to see what they are doing.

  10. I found it very interesting that Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears have more Twitter followers than the entire populations of Sweden, Israel, Switzerland, Ireland, Norway and Panama. I found this interesting because those countries are very large, and it would take many "followers" to overcome there population. I also found it very interesting that within a 4 minute time period there is 100+ hours of video uploaded to YouTube. I found this very intriguing because that would take a vast amount of people uploading videos; much more then I assumed.

  15. The fact that if facebook is a country, it will be the 3rd largest. It struck me so much because now a days, we can see how people in our modern world use social media so much that sometimes it affect our simple daily living. It says that "over 50% of the world's population is under 30", that being said that the social media is encouraging young people to use the internet or other media application to socialize or communicate, meet friends or even meet the person that's going to be with you for the rest of your life. That's how powerful and influential the social media, even companies, universities, and businesses uses social media to send a message or even hire someone. That's how the social media world wide.

  16. Something i found interesting is how it took the radio 38 years, tv 13 years, the internet 4 years, and ipod 3 years to reach 50 million users and then ipod downloads reached 1 billion in 9 months and facebook had more than 200 million users in 1 year. My question would be how did both things become so popular?

  20. I agree with Connor the article was very interesting. I found that Chicago was the fastest growing city on Facebook in terms of usage in 2010 and Houston was a close second. Out of all cities’ I would of thought New York or Los Angeles would have been number one.

What I find interesting in this video is how if facebook were a country, it would be in the top 3. but facebook hasn't been around all that long because it wasn't around when i first got to high school. Which is why social media has become a big part of our societies..on Earth.

I found this video very interesting because it shows many facts about the internet which I believe is a very important "thing" in our generation.
What I found shocking is how many photos get up loaded in a year on facebook alone...30 billion at the current rate, and many more on other social network websites.

  26. I'm interested in the video that Justin Liu provided. Those things I can understand, and usually use. Chinese own social media can be more comfortable to chinese people. They are chinese type, so they can be more popular than other famous social media in China.

  29. I like what Julia posted about the social media this day. It's true that many people today become a victim of the bad side part of social media, like what happened to the police who lost his job because of social media. Not only normal people are being a victim, there is no exemptions weather you in a high society class or in the middle class all of us is either a predator or a prey.
